Schools in the US

The What and the Why of a Vision of a Learner
In this highly interactive workshop, participants will explore and unpack the concept of a Vision of a Learner* using examples from across the country, characteristics of high quality Vision of a Learner, and research from national organizations regarding what young people will need most in order to succeed in the world they are inheriting. A critical component of creating this shared understanding is establishing why the Vision of a Learner is important, and what must shift in a school or district when it is implemented meaningfully.
Participants will walk away with an understanding of the Vision of a Learner, a map of the design and creation process, and some clear action steps they want to accomplish in order to move the work forward.
*Please note that the Vision of a Learner concept may also be referred to as “collective vision for student success,” “portrait of a graduate,” and "vision of the graduate."
Who should participate?
This workshop, Part 1 of the Vision of a Learner Workshop series, is suitable for schools/districts that are just beginning their Vision of a Learner journey and do not yet have a vision. Schools that already have a vision and want to implement it more deeply should view Part 2 options.
IMPORTANT - These workshops are designed for schools/districts located in the US only. If your school is located outside of the US, please search for events listed under "international education".
