Resources for Visiting Teams

Thank you for volunteering your time!

Accreditation is a voluntary, peer review process which engages thousands of professional educators in school visits each year. The members of NEASC Accreditation Visiting Teams are trained to function as “critical friends” who provide commendations and recommendations to assist an institution’s growth and improvement process.

During the Accreditation Visit, a team of volunteer peer reviewers representing career and technical institutions from throughout New England visit a school or center for three and one-half days (Decennial Visit) or for two and one-half days (five year focus visit).  Visiting Teams conduct direct observation of a school's practices and interview key constituents (students, teachers, administrators, parents, community representatives, business partners) in order to validate the school/center's Self-Study. A Visiting Team Report is produced which includes detailed analysis of each academic and technical program, as well as an analysis of the school or center’s practices relative to the NEASC Standards. It is vitally important to note the formative nature of the team’s visit and report.

State CTE Profiles

CTCI accredits schools/centers in five New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont.  Each state has its own set of qualities (governance structure, terminology, program model) to describe its CTE programs.

To help Visiting Team members understand the differences in how Career and Technical Education (CTE) is offered in each state, the following reference guides are provided:

Not yet on a Visiting Team? Get involved!

If you have not yet volunteered but are interested in serving on an Accreditation Visiting Team, NEASC is notified of prospective volunteers for public school Visiting Teams via the Annual Information Report (AIR). If you would like to participate on a Visiting Team, make sure to let your school head know that you would like to be added to the Visiting Team Volunteer List on the AIR.
