Required Reports

The NEASC Commission on Independent Schools requires that member schools demonstrate continued alignment with NEASC Standards through an annual update and two- and five-year reports in order to maintain their NEASC accreditation,

Due dates will be noted in letters sent to schools following Commission actions. Schools will be emailed a reminder letter with the appropriate form attached prior to the report due date.

Annual Update

All NEASC schools are required to submit an Annual Update on or before December 15 each year. Updated contact information, demographic and organizational details, and selected data‑based metrics are collected with the Annual Update. School heads will be contacted with reminders and instructions each year.

If there is a change in Head of School at any time during the year, please contact cis@neasc.org as soon as possible to ensure records are updated accordingly.

Catholic Diocesan Forms

Catholic schools may choose to use the Diocesan Report on School Finances (DRSF) in lieu of the audit review with management letter that is required at the time of the school's decennial or initial evaluation visit and again at the time of the Five-Year Interim Report.

If you choose to use the DRSF, a signed Release of Financial Information form should be submitted.

Diocesan schools are also required to submit a signed Release of Information form to the Commission office. Once this form is on file, Diocesan superintendents will receive copies of correspondence regarding accreditation and visiting committee reports for the school.

Substantive Change Report

Examples of substantive changes may include adopting a new mission, purpose, or admitting exclusively different students (e.g., changing from a traditional school to a therapeutic school), adding a division (e.g., elementary school, middle school, high school, post-graduate), adding a residential or homestay program, adding or removing enrollment of a sex (e.g., single-sex to coed), adding a new local campus that will serve current students, and changing ownership for a proprietary school. The merging of two or more schools is also a substantive change but is addressed under the Merged School Policy.

Report for Merged Schools

The merging of two or more schools is also a substantive change, but NEASC requires that the school file a Report for Merged Schools by the requested deadline, typically at the completion of one full year of the merger. This report may be followed by a Focused Visit from the Commission. Upon notification of two or more schools merging, NEASC will automatically extend the schools’ accreditation to include the newly formed school.
