Dorothy Galo named 2018 Jacob Ludes Award recipient
Dorothy "Dot" Galo, Superintendent of the Hingham Public School District (MA), was recognized as the 2018 recipient of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Jacob Ludes III Leadership Award at the 133rd Annual Meeting and Conference in Boston on Friday, December 14, 2018.
This prestigious award, named for the former NEASC Executive Director who provided over 40 years of service and leadership to the Association, was created to recognize NEASC volunteers who demonstrate leadership qualities that further the goals and objectives of the Association. Presented annually, the Ludes Leadership Award goes to an active educator who has created, led, managed or developed a program, project, or activity that has productively impacted NEASC or one of its Commissions in a given year.
Dot has been a supporter of and a contributor to the New England Association of Schools and Colleges for many years. She has been a chair of school visits for both the Commission on Public Schools and the Commission on International Education. She has also been a member of the Committee on Public Secondary Schools (CPSS) and the Commission on International Education (CIE). Dot had a lead role in the creation of the Accreditation protocol used by NEASC/CIE for international schools and served as CIE Chair. As Chair of the Association during 2004-2005 and throughout her various roles at NEASC, Dot has had a major influence in the quality of Accreditation and the number of schools the Association serves.
