Student Voice

Empowering students is a key area of focus for NEASC accreditation and professional learning. Learner agency and student-centered teaching and learning are main components of the NEASC accreditation process, for example, the ACE Learning Principles. All NEASC pathways to accreditation require student voice in the self-reflection process as well as during the accreditation visit. We strongly encourage schools to involve students as much as possible to ensure your self-refection findings and goal setting are authentic and meaningful for your students.

Each year student speakers lead sessions at our Leadership Conference, Educator Showcases, and webinars. NEASC also holds an annual student conference with the collaboration of a steering committee of members of local accredited schools.

The Student Connections Conference is held annually in March and brings together hundreds of students from across New England. This year the conference theme is “Lead out Loud” and the event will be held at Clark University in Worcester, MA. Student presentations focus on topics important to them and their peers and the change they wish to see and make in the world.

Students have participated on panels and organized sessions for the NEASC Forum webinar series, a free webinar series accessible to all interested educators across the country and around the world. You can explore some of these sessions featuring student leaders below.
