Introduction to Innovation and Design Thinking in Education [PDHU 598A]
In partnership with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), NEASC has developed a professional development 3-credit graduate-level course opportunity that can be integrated with the 2019 NEASC Annual Conference and Showcase program content: Introduction to Innovation and Design Thinking in Education. Those completing this course can earn three credits from Southern New Hampshire University that could be accepted at an accredited higher education institution, pending approval and at the discretion of the receiving institution.
Credits: 3 graduate credits
Course Dates: The course runs from January 14th - March 6th, 2020.
This course will introduce learners to innovation and the use of design thinking in education. Learners will study the disruptors facing educators and schools, as well as ways to use the Innovators’ Compass as a tool to use design thinking to address these disruptors.
The learner will…
- Understand the learning needs of Children and Adolescents.
- Understand the disruptors challenging schools.
- Identify key components of the design process using the Innovators’ Compass.
- Using the Innovators’ Compass to create solutions to challenges facing their classroom, school, and/or district.
These outcomes will be accomplished through attendance at the NEASC conference, a journal, discussion, readings, a project, and reflection.
