New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)

Research

NEASC aims to fulfill its commitment to improving education by collecting and disseminating information through its Research Office.  The NEASC Research Office has been involved in various projects and studies this year, including an annual economic impact assessment of all NEASC-accredited institutions, K-postsecondary.  At the present time, the NEASC Research Office is working on a review of literature that relates to best practices and standards for accreditation.  A study initiated in 2007 is also underway in which visiting team recommendations to public schools are being analyzed in order to identify commonly cited areas for schools improvement and ensuing school actions.  The aim of this study is to help produce effective protocols and inform the entire accreditation process.  Other projects include ongoing analysis of No Child Left Behind data, research on effective early childhood education initiatives, and other studies that explore issues of educational access and equity.  Additionally, the Research Office is examining the characteristics of effective distance learning programs and successful homeschooling experiences.
