NEASC Economic Impact Report copyright © February 2, 2010

The Office of Research released findings from its latest economic impact study in February 2010.  The 2010 NEASC Economic Impact Report reveals that New England's accredited educational institutions (K-postsecondary) have an economic impact of over $135 billion as of FY07.  The combined revenue base of accredited public elementary, middle and secondary schools was found to exceed the revenues of many of the region's highest grossing companies.  The study, conducted annually since 2004, consistently shows that New England's education institutions are arguably the most vital economic stimulus in the region's economy.  This latest study underscores the importance of the education sector in transitioning New England out of the economic downturn and enabling the region to remain economically competitive in the years ahead.  Link to the report.

In July 2006, the NEASC Office of Research released the report, The Impact of Accreditation: Results of the Regional Accreditation & Quality of Education Survey, NEASC 2005, which describes results of a cross-Commission survey study examining the impact of accreditation on the quality of education at member institutions among all six NEASC Commissions. This analysis is the first to explore how accreditation impacts the wide array of institutions in our membership in a single study, comparing schools which vary in per student spending, resources, geographic location, and size.  Link to the report.
